This year has been really epic for me due to the fact that I went all out with travelling to both nearby places and the other side of the world with my boyfriend, siblings and my parents. I’ve never felt happier and broke at the same time because as I’ve mentioned in one of my posts before, travelling takes a toll on my finances, but nothing can replace the wonderful memories I’ve made with the special people in my heart. Therefore, I’m sharing with you some of my favourite memories below.JANUARY
Started our travels by the end of January where Carlos and I went to Guangzhou to have a bit of quality time together where we got to see the famous Canton Tower and the Sacred Heart cathedral.
We decided to kick-start the month of February by going to one of Asia’s most visited cities: Singapore, mainly to see the Marvel’s Avengers Exhibition, experience eating at the FRIENDS café and of course meeting up with my bestie, Tiffany (who flew all the way from Jakarta).
And then by the second week of February, my mom decided that she wanted to celebrate her birthday in Hong Kong, so that was a pretty sweet and intimate moment for all of us to spend time together in one hotel room (not that we don’t live under one roof), but it was special.
Carlos is a February baby, so with that said we celebrated his birthday in Manila just because we’re cool like that. Kidding! The main reason we went there was because his aunt was celebrating her 60th birthday and all of their relatives were going to be there, but we did get to spend some quality time together before everything got out of hand.
APRIL – MAY
Towards the end of April, Carlos and I decided to explore the capital of China, Beijing just because we live in the country and decided that it was about time we saw it.
JUNE – JULY
In the middle of June, I decided to go to the US to celebrate with my sister as she turned 30 this year. I was exhilarated by the fact that we got to visit several cities that time around and having had the chance to travel with my siblings and aunt once again was the best part.
The most impulsive time my family’s ever been because tickets were booked only a couple of days prior to leaving for Manila. I accompanied my parents on a “mission” to get themselves checked in terms of their health, but I’ll spare you the details because despite everything we went through that time, I’m glad I got to spend time with the first two loves of my life.
SEPTEMBER – OCTOBER
September was the time I opted to go to America again due to the fact that I was supposed to meet up with a few of my friends from there, but time was not right for we were not able to have a reunion. However, I was able to meet up with a friend of mine, Caitlin, who now lives in Oregon. Portland was a wonderful city despite the weather being horrible.
After my trip to America, I met up with Carlos back home before we jetted off to South Korea. Like Japan, we decided to roam around the country for a week and boy did we have a wonderful time.
Like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, was a first for us and I’ve posted these same photos in one of my blog posts already and they’re my absolute favourites. We decided to visit this exhibition because we figured that the one in Macau would not be the same and we were right. We didn’t get to explore much of the city really, but since it’s only an hour away by ferry from Macau, we might just do so in the future.
For our last trip of the year, we decided to go to Cambodia seeing as we could not have gone further because Carlos was not able to take leave for 2 weeks. The city wasn’t what I expected because I personally wouldn’t call it a city because of its provincial features, but it was beautiful and the temples and richness in both culture and history took my breath away. And I, for one, fell in love with it. People were very friendly and welcoming which made this trip worthwhile despite it being a short one.
While I do not plan to travel as much in the coming year, I’m excited for what God has in store for me. I have not exactly listed my new year’s resolutions on paper, but I’ve done it in my head and that is to spend even more quality time with family (especially my parents) and super close friends and also to have a much deeper/spiritual relationship with God. What are your plans for 2018? Do let me know in the comment section below and I hope you all have a wonderful and prosperous New Year!
